Secret Patents and National Security

I have been developing a cross-jurisdictional project about the secrecy orders that can be issued for patent applications that may threaten national security. In 2017, an early version this essay won the 3rd prize in The John McLaren Emmerson QC Essay Prize of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).

I presented an updated version of the paper at the 3rd workshop of the ERC-funded project PASSIM (Patents as Scientific Information, 1895-2020), entitled ‘Patents in the Service of War and Peace’ (pdf). A summary and recording of the presentation is available here.
